Barcelona’s manager, Hansi Flick, expressed his satisfaction as his attacking vision came to fruition during the team’s 4-1 victory over Girona on Sunday. This goal-fest has become a hallmark of their season.
With this win, Flick’s Barcelona side has now netted four or more goals in 20 matches across all competitions this term, pushing them three points clear of second-placed Real Madrid in the battle for the title.
“This illustrates our approach; we aim to attack. We strive to create opportunities—not just for scoring but to generate chances consistently,” Flick informed the media.
“What I admire about this team is their relentless desire to find the back of the net.”
“In our counter-attacks, it wasn’t solely the striker or attacking midfielder making the runs; even central midfielder Frenkie de Jong was sprinting forward.”
However, Girona made it challenging for Barcelona, with goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga producing a series of impressive saves in the first half. Flick also commended their solid defensive play, which kept Barcelona at bay until an unfortunate own goal right before halftime.
“The first half was commendable. We might have missed one or two more chances, but we must acknowledge Girona’s defence was excellent,” he remarked.
“They possess the ball well and excel in maintaining possession.”
“I know Lewandowski is eager to win the Pichichi (the award for the league’s top scorer). However, the main priority is the team’s success. From the season’s outset, I have placed my complete trust in him,” said Flick.
“Lewandowski has delivered vital goals for us this season. Although I prefer not to focus on individual players, he is certainly unique. I’m also delighted for Ferran (Torres), as his goal was significant.”

With nine matches remaining, Barcelona’s upcoming home clash against Real Madrid in May may prove pivotal in the LaLiga title race, but Flick is not getting ahead of himself just yet.
“There’s still plenty of time before El Clasico. We need to demonstrate our strength, and it certainly won’t be straightforward,” the German tactician remarked.
“This league season can offer some unexpected twists, which is beneficial for the competition.”
