Barcelona’s head coach Hansi Flick is concentrating on his team’s recovery as they enter the critical finale of the season. Currently leading LaLiga, they are also in the running for both the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.
Barcelona solidified their position at the top of the Spanish league with a 1-0 victory against Leganes on Saturday, marking an impressive 12-match unbeaten streak and giving them a seven-point lead over second-placed Real Madrid.
“Our focus must be on recovery, recovery, recovery. That’s simply how it is. We will return to Barcelona tonight, train tomorrow, and then fly to Dortmund on Monday,” Flick told the media.
“We have no excuses – we need to recover, but that’s part of our job,” he added.
A goal from defender Jorge Saenz, who inadvertently scored an own goal, secured the victory for the Catalan side. Flick emphasized that earning three points is vital, regardless of how they come, especially given the demanding schedule they’ve faced.
“Three points are three points, and we give our all for 90 minutes in every match. Considering the physical burden the players have endured in recent weeks, it’s astonishing.”
“Post-international break, the performances my players have delivered have been remarkable. I take great pride in them.”
The coach also took a moment to commend Inigo Martinez, who made a brilliant tackle in stoppage time to thwart Munir’s attempt when he was poised to score against Wojciech Szczesny.
“That was a significant part of the game—defending well. Yes, I celebrated that moment. It was a perfect game,” Flick stated.
Barcelona, who remain unbeaten in their last 24 matches across all competitions, will face Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday, having won the first leg 4-0. They will then host Celta Vigo in LaLiga on Saturday.
