Aston Villa climbed to fourth in the Premier League, at least temporarily, following second-half goals from Ezri Konsa and Boubacar Kamara, which maintained their impressive unbeaten home league streak at 18 matches (W11, D7).
With the prospect of edging closer to UEFA Champions League qualification for the second consecutive year, Villa began the match strongly against their visitors, who were positioned 17th.
John McGinn missed a golden opportunity by shooting over from a good position inside the box, while at the other end, Emiliano Martinez made an outstanding save to deny Wilson Odobert’s close-range flick.
As the first half unfolded, opportunities continued to arise, with Morgan Rogers having a clever attempt tipped around the post by Antonin Kinsky and Marco Asensio narrowly missing the target with a curling shot from the edge of the area.

The hosts maintained control as the half-time mark approached, yet the Tottenham defence held firm to ensure the scores remained level at the interval.
Intent on converting their dominance into goals, Villa sought to intensify their efforts as the second half commenced.
They were rewarded for their determination in the 59th minute when Ollie Watkins’ header from McGinn’s corner was converted by Konsa for the centre-back’s second league goal of the term.
Villa nearly doubled their advantage shortly after, but McGinn’s long-range shot veered just wide of Kinsky’s near post.
Refusing to be denied, Unai Emery’s squad secured the crucial second goal with 17 minutes remaining, as Kamara gathered a pass from Rogers and struck a magnificent shot into the bottom corner, marking his first Premier League goal.
This effectively ended the contest, enabling Villa to cruise through the final stages and pocket their ninth league win in 11 outings.
Turning to Tottenham, their focus pivots to the more immediate challenge of next week’s Europa League final, featuring a chance at securing a first trophy in 17 years.
