Paris St Germain could secure the Ligue 1 title as early as this weekend, provided they triumph at Saint-Etienne and other match outcomes are favourable. Coach Luis Enrique is eager to maintain the team’s momentum to add to their trophy cabinet.
PSG remains unbeaten this season, boasting a substantial 19-point advantage over Marseille in second place, with just eight matches remaining. They are on the cusp of claiming their fourth consecutive Ligue 1 championship.
A victory for PSG, coupled with a loss for Marseille and dropped points from AS Monaco and Nice, would guarantee PSG its 11th league title since the 2012-13 season and Enrique’s second successive title at the helm.

“We are not champions until it is mathematically impossible for anyone to catch us. Nevertheless, we are the strongest team in Ligue 1. We aim to utilise these eight matches for broader goals,” stated Luis Enrique at a press conference on Friday.
The Spanish manager, who previously guided Barcelona to a treble comprising LaLiga, the Champions League, and the Copa del Rey in 2015, has the chance to replicate this achievement again this year.
“It’s essential that we’re prepared for the intense two to three months of competition ahead,” he added.
After falling to Borussia Dortmund in last season’s Champions League semi-finals, PSG is set to meet Aston Villa in the quarter-finals next month, following a French Cup semi-final against Ligue 2 outfit Dunkerque.
Enrique confirmed that PSG is fully motivated for the away clash against Saint-Etienne, a team battling relegation and currently sitting in 17th place, just one point adrift of Le Havre who have played an extra game.
Saint-Etienne seemed to be on the brink of their first victory since January when they were leading 2-0 against bottom-placed Montpellier on 16 March, but the match was called off after fans threw flares onto the pitch, leading to a stand catching fire.
“Our upcoming match is against a historic French club, and the atmosphere at their stadium is incredibly intense. We thrive in such vibrant football environments with passionate supporters. It’s truly motivating for us. I trust there won’t be any disruptions,” Enrique expressed.
