Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways with manager Ange Postecoglou, despite the club having ended a 17-year trophy drought by clinching the Europa League title, according to multiple credible sources.
Postecoglou has faced uncertainty in recent weeks, awaiting news about his future. While Spurs celebrated their victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final, they ended up finishing 17th in the Premier League, a development that ultimately compelled the club to make a change.
“After an evaluation of performances and considerable reflection, the Club can confirm that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his managerial duties,” stated the club in an official announcement.
The Australian manager started his Spurs tenure on a high note in the 2023/24 season, winning his first 10 matches and showcasing some thrilling football.
However, their form soon declined, and by the end of the season, the north London club finished fifth in the Premier League.
This downturn continued into the 2024/25 season, with Spurs recording their lowest-ever Premier League finish at 17th place, severely affected by a spate of injuries to important players and a lack of consistency in their performances.
Tottenham concluded the season with only 38 points, marking their worst finish in the top flight since the 1976/77 season.
They conceded 65 goals, went winless in eight of their final 10 league matches, and failed to secure a victory against any of the top-six teams after the festive period.

During his time at Spurs, Postecoglou oversaw 22 defeats in 38 matches, which, in any other English top-flight season with a similar number of games, would have resulted in relegation.
There are reports suggesting that Brentford’s Thomas Frank is being considered as a possible replacement for the managerial role at Tottenham.
