Captain of Al Hilal, Salem Al-Dawsari, will be sidelined for the remainder of the Club World Cup due to a hamstring injury, as confirmed by the Saudi club on Saturday.
“Medical assessments have revealed that Salem Al-Dawsari has sustained a hamstring injury. He is set to begin a treatment and rehabilitation programme that is expected to last between four to six weeks,” Al Hilal announced via X.
This unfortunate news means Al-Dawsari will miss the round of 16 showdown against Manchester City on Monday.
The forward played a crucial role in Al Hilal’s journey in the Club World Cup, having netted the opening goal in the team’s 2-0 win over Pachuca on Friday during the third round of the group stage.
This victory against Pachuca ensured that the four-time Asian champions advanced to the knockout stages, finishing second in Group H, just behind Real Madrid.
