Al Ahly midfielder Emam Ashour has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2025 Club World Cup after medical scans revealed he has suffered a broken collarbone, the club from Egypt confirmed on Sunday.
Ashour exited the opening match of the restructured competition against Inter Miami, which ended in a scoreless draw, visibly upset after injuring his shoulder.
“Medical tests conducted on Emam Ashour at a Miami hospital have confirmed a broken collarbone, meaning he will not participate in any further matches of the Club World Cup,” stated Al Ahly’s doctor, Ahmed Gaballah, through the club’s X account.
The 27-year-old, who finished as the top scorer in the Egyptian Premier League, had previously sustained a significant shoulder injury while representing the national team in 2024. He initially fell early in the match and received treatment on the sidelines before trying to continue, missing a clear one-on-one opportunity.
Ultimately, Ashour was unable to carry on and requested a substitution in the 14th minute, with Ahmed Sayed (Zizo) taking his place.
