Ajax manager Francesco Farioli (35) declined to discuss the prospect of chasing the Eredivisie title following his team’s thrilling victory over fierce rivals Feyenoord in the Klassieker.
Ajax secured a 2-1 win, with Kenneth Taylor scoring a dramatic winner in the 94th minute, placing Ajax just two points behind league leaders PSV, with a game in hand.
Despite being firmly in the title race, Farioli would not engage in conversations regarding a potential championship.
“We need to stay composed and keep our feet firmly on the ground,” Farioli stated. “We aren’t concerned with other clubs; our focus is solely on ourselves.”
“Once again, we gave everything we had. We demonstrated our desire to win. I can’t thank my players enough. They continuously brought energy and showed they are willing to give their all for this club.”

Taylor scored following an impressive assist from Danish right-back Anton Gaaei, who is stepping up in the absence of Devyne Rensch, who transferred to AS Roma in January. Gaaei’s recent performances have been quite commendable after a challenging start to his Ajax career.
Farioli wanted to acknowledge Gaaei’s contributions, underscoring that, despite labelling the win as a “team effort,” individual brilliance played a crucial role.
“I must emphasise the importance of Anton Gaaei. Last season, he was substituted in the first half of our home match against Feyenoord. This time, he provided a brilliant cross for Taylor. That cross made all the difference.”
The passionately dedicated Italian boss was spotted with teary eyes during his team’s lap of honour. When asked if he wished to relive that emotional moment, he declined.
“If I do, I’ll end up crying again!”
