In January, AGF suffered a setback when they lost their promising 16-year-old striker, Mikkel Bro Hansen, to Europa League semifinalists Bodo/Glimt, without securing any transfer fee for the highly-rated talent. This evening, he scored his second hat-trick in just two matches for the northern side.
Mikkel Bro Hansen had been on the radar of numerous clubs for quite some time, yet AGF was unable to finalise a contract, resulting in the Aarhus club missing out on a transfer fee.
Since Mikkel turned 15 nearly a year ago, AGF had been making repeated attempts to reach an agreement with him.
“In light of Mikkel’s 15th birthday, we consistently endeavoured to strike a deal with the player and his representatives. However, the salary and clause demands were at such a level that it was simply not a viable business model for the club,” remarked AGF’s Head of Recruitment, Jeppe Ørskov, to Bold.dk in January.
Bodo/Glimt, the Norwegian Europa League semifinalists, faced no hesitation regarding Mikkel Bro Hansen’s financial expectations and opted to sign the 15-year-old in January.
“I can really see myself fitting in with this team. I trained with Bodo for two days in December, and it was fantastic. Everyone was incredibly friendly and made me feel welcome. It was an easy decision to move here. Bodo/Glimt has a clear plan for me, and it’s incredibly exciting to join them and train with the first team every day,” said Mikkel Bro Hansen upon his signing with the Norwegians.
Today, Mikkel made his second start for Bodo, following an impressive hat-trick on his debut against Innstranda, and once again showcased his talent by netting another hat-trick in the Norwegian Cup match against Junkeren, which Bodo/Glimt won 5-1.
Bodo/Glimt is set to take on Tottenham in the first leg of the Europa League semifinal next Thursday in London.
