The AFL showdown between Richmond and Fremantle was reduced to just three field umpires following the early exit of official Paul Rebeschini on Sunday afternoon.
Rebeschini was forced off the field after a head-on collision with Richmond’s star player, Jayden Short.
This encounter took place in the picturesque Barossa Valley as part of Gather Round, and there may not have been an emergency umpire available to step in for Rebeschini.

Commentator Kelli Underwood from Fox Footy suggested the umpire may have experienced “whiplash” due to the incident.
Following a strong opening from the Tigers, Fremantle surged ahead after the half-time break to secure a convincing 16.12 (108) to 7.5 (47) win.
Key forward Josh Treacy was the standout performer, kicking six goals.
This result marks Richmond’s fourth straight defeat since their unexpected victory over Carlton in Round One.
As for the Dockers, they have now notched three consecutive wins after a sluggish start to the season at 0-2, with a match against Melbourne at the MCG looming next weekend.
