Hawthorn icon Luke Hodge has emphasised a significant issue as North Melbourne gears up to contest Jackson Archer’s three-match suspension.
The young Kangaroo received a three-game ban following a distressing collision with Western Bulldogs player Luke Cleary, with the match review officer categorising the incident as careless conduct, severe impact, and high contact.
Cleary was left motionless on the ground at Marvel Stadium and was stretchered off due to a concussion, fortunately avoiding any serious injuries.
“I’ve had conversations with many within North Melbourne, and they pose the question, ‘What if the roles were reversed? What if Archer had suffered a broken leg because Cleary went down while Archer was coming in and stayed on his feet?’. This is the uncertainty that everyone is grappling with,” Hodge stated on SEN radio.
“I think we’ll all be watching closely tonight, trying to gauge which way the AFL is inclined to go with this decision.”
