A breathtaking 90-metre try by Luke Brooks wasn’t sufficient for the Sea Eagles as the Sharks put an end to their two-match losing streak in Perth.
Cronulla’s commanding first half proved pivotal, leading them to a 24-18 victory and providing relief for coach Craig Fitzgibbon, as the team reconnected with the top eight.
However, there was a cause for concern as Sharks prop Addin Fonua-Blake sent a ripple of apprehension through the squad after departing the field prematurely.
Fonua-Blake exited the match with 10 minutes remaining, visibly indicating an issue with his groin. He was seen limping towards the tunnel before the final whistle.
After the game, Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon provided an update on his player’s condition.
“I spoke to him afterwards; he mentioned he felt something early in the match and continued to play through it. I’d say there’s some discomfort, but nothing too serious,” he stated.

A sluggish opening from both teams meant that no points were scored in the first 30 minutes until Samuel Stonestreet struck twice just before halftime, putting his side ahead 8-0.
Cronulla extended their lead in the 47th minute with a try from Will Kennedy.
But the Sea Eagles weren’t finished. Clayton Faulalo was the first to register for Manly before Brooks intercepted for a try in the 58th minute, narrowing the score to 14-12.

“That’s a massive try for Manly,” Kevin Walters commented on Fox League.
The teams then exchanged tries, with Mawene Hiroti scoring for the Sharks. Thomas Hazleton sealed the result with a try of his own just five minutes from the end.
Daly Cherry-Evans capped off the match with a consolation try, but it was ultimately a night for Cronulla to celebrate.
