Melbourne City has confirmed that young defender Harry Shillington has secured a contract extension for one more season, ensuring his presence at the club throughout the 2025-26 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
Having joined City’s academy at the age of 12, Shillington has made significant strides, culminating in his senior debut during the 2023 Australia Cup.
Although he has yet to feature in the Isuzu UTE A-League for City, Shillington is currently dedicating his off-season to the club’s VPL1 campaign, where City proudly leads the table after 17 matches in Victoria’s second division.
Michael Petrillo, City’s director of football, commented that while Shillington didn’t get the chance to make his debut during the club’s Championship-winning 2024-25 season, he is well-positioned to reach that landmark next season as he continues to thrive in his development.
“Despite not making A-League appearances in our Championship-winning season, Harry has made notable advancements in his growth, particularly after recovering from an early-season ankle injury,” said Petrillo.
“If he maintains the same dedication and effort, I’m confident he’ll be in contention for senior minutes in the upcoming season.”
Shillington is the fourth player to re-sign with the reigning champions this off-season, joining Alessandro Lopane (2027-28), Samuel Souprayen (2025-26), and Max Caputo (2027-28) in finalising a new deal with City.
“The last season was a fantastic learning experience, and I feel privileged to have been part of such a successful team,” Shillington stated.
“I’m thrilled to return to the club for another year, and I am committed to continuing my improvement and contributing effectively on the pitch next season.”
