HONG KONG: Brett Robinson, the chairman of World Rugby, has indicated that the iconic Bledisloe Cup might make a comeback to Hong Kong, following enthusiastic praise from officials, players, and fans for the newly opened Kai Tak Stadium.
This modern 50,000-seat venue is set to host its inaugural event this weekend with the Hong Kong Sevens, drawing in a staggering 105,000 fans over the three-day celebration.
Next week, the famed band Coldplay will perform, and it seems likely that the Wallabies and All Blacks could also be on the horizon.

The previous Hong Kong Stadium held two Bledisloe Cup matches in 2008 and 2010, with James O’Connor kicking Australia to a thrilling victory in the latter.
“It’s simply remarkable for rugby,” Robinson remarked during a press conference in Hong Kong on Sunday.
“Looking ahead, what other events might we see hosted here beyond the sevens tournaments?

“Several leading unions are represented here, including Phil Waugh and representatives from Japan. What other matches might potentially be scheduled here in the future?”
“The facility is remarkable. In the past, we’ve had Bledisloe Cups played in this vicinity. For the member unions, there’s a real opportunity to explore what they could achieve here if they choose to.”
Both Australian teams have reached the semi-finals of the Hong Kong tournament.
The women’s team will face France at 4:37 pm on Sunday (AEDT), followed by the men’s match against Argentina at 5:00 pm.
