Following an exhilarating final round of the regular season, the Isuzu UTE A-League Finals Series is set in motion. Here’s how your team can navigate their way to the Championship.
Having dominated for much of their inaugural season, A-Leagues newcomers Auckland FC secured the Premiers Plate in the second-last round, giving them a week off and a two-legged Semi Final match-up against the lowest-placed Elimination Final victor.
To secure second place on the ladder, Melbourne City required a win in the final round, which they achieved with a resounding 5-1 victory over Sydney FC. This result not only granted them a week off but also a spot in next season’s AFC Champions League Elite.
The opening week of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025 Finals Series promises two thrilling Elimination Finals.

First up, third-placed Western United will be hosting their Elimination Final against sixth-placed Adelaide United on Friday, May 9.
While Western United were already secured a finals spot, Adelaide faced a nail-biting finish to their campaign, ultimately edging out Sydney FC, finishing just a point above them after the latter suffered two consecutive losses when only a single point was needed.
On Saturday night, a clash between two of the league’s most prominent clubs will unfold at CommBank Stadium as fourth-placed Western Sydney Wanderers take on fifth-placed Melbourne Victory.
Both teams secured their positions in the Finals Series with games to spare; the Wanderers wrapped up the regular season with a convincing 3-1 derby win over Macarthur Bulls, while Victory ended their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Newcastle Jets at AAMI Park.
A-Leagues Executive Chair, Hon. Stephen Conroy stated: “This has been an outstanding 20th season for the Isuzu UTE A-League Men, marked by remarkable achievements on and off the field, showcasing entertaining football and a record number of goals, alongside a continuous increase in attendance and free-to-air viewership.”
“The competitiveness of the league is highlighted by the top six spots being confirmed in the final weekend of the regular season. We are eagerly anticipating what should be an exceptional finals series featuring thrilling match-ups and rivalries across Australia and New Zealand.”
