Sydney FC has pulled off a significant transfer win, signing the talented Young Matildas midfielder Amelia Cassar on a three-year deal from rivals Western Sydney Wanderers.
The 17-year-old made four appearances for the Wanderers during the Ninja A-League 2024-25 season but has chosen to switch to their arch-rivals.
Having recently participated in a training camp with the Young Matildas alongside several players from Sydney FC, Cassar has committed to the Sky Blues until the conclusion of the Ninja A-League 2027-28 season.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Sydney FC,” Cassar expressed after finalising her contract.
“This club boasts an outstanding history of nurturing young talent and providing them with opportunities to excel – and that’s exactly what I aim to achieve here.
She further stated: “I’m determined to work hard, learn as much as I can from Ante and the team, and do everything in my power to contribute to a successful season.”
