Melbourne Victory’s forward, Emily Gielnik, has officially signed with Liga MX Femenil club C.F. Monterrey following the end of her contract in the Ninja A-League.
The 33-year-old leaves Victory after another impressive season, netting 13 goals in 22 appearances.
Just missing out on the Golden Boot to Melbourne City’s Holly McNamara, Gielnik’s contributions were pivotal in leading Victory to the Ninja A-League Grand Final for 2024-25, where they were narrowly defeated by Central Coast Mariners in a penalty shootout.
According to Melbourne Victory’s Director of Football, John Didulica,
“Emily has been an invaluable part of Melbourne Victory and is cherished by everyone at the club,” remarked Didulica.
“We are immensely grateful for her numerous seasons spent with us.”
“It’s a source of pride that our women’s program has played a vital role in returning Emily to full fitness.”
He further stated: “Witnessing her return to form after missing out on the 2023 World Cup has been fantastic. She has not only clinched our Golden Boot but has also been reselected for the Matildas and now has the chance to develop her career in a prominent global league.”
Having returned to the CommBank Matildas squad following a fruitful season, Gielnik made an impact during the recent 3-0 victory over Slovenia at HBF Park in Perth, scoring within two minutes.

Known as ‘Rayadas’, C.F. Monterrey will kick off their new Liga MX Femenil season on July 12, competing against Club Universidad Nacional.
The Ninja A-League standout will now share a pitch with a renowned figure in men’s international football, as Spanish World Cup champion and Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos currently plays for the C.F. Monterrey men’s team.
