The Brisbane Roar have officially unveiled the signing of Michael Ruhs, formerly of their Isuzu UTE A-League competitors Western United.
The “dynamic” Australian striker is set to join Michael Valkanis’ revamped Roar squad for the 2025-26 season, with the club still actively seeking additional attacking talent.
Ruhs makes the move from Melbourne to Brisbane after netting four goals and chalking up six goal contributions over 20 matches with Western United during the 2024-25 season, as the Green and Black concluded their campaign in third place and progressed to the Semi-Finals.
At just 22 years of age, Ruhs brings a considerable amount of experience to Brisbane, having played across 94 matches with the likes of Macarthur Bulls, Central Coast Mariners, and most recently, Western United.

“I’m honoured to be joining a club of Brisbane Roar’s stature, one of the most prominent in the A-Leagues,” said Ruhs.
“I’m eager to connect with the passionate supporters and leverage my abilities on the pitch to help the team return to where it belongs—competing in finals.”
Valkanis, the new head coach, has already made significant signings, bringing in Milorad Stajic, James McGarry from Aberdeen, and Hosine Bility, along with re-signing players Antonee Burke-Gilroy and Austin Ludwik.

“We’re thrilled to have Michael join the football club for the 2025-26 season,” Valkanis stated.
“Though he is only 22, Michael possesses a rich background in the A-Leagues and brings a remarkable skill set characterised by his pace and tenacity. He will undoubtedly be a crucial addition to the Brisbane Roar this season.”
“I’m confident our passionate fanbase will join me in welcoming Michael to the club.”
