Chelsea is poised to enhance their attacking options with the addition of England under-21 international winger Jamie Gittens, having reportedly struck a deal with Borussia Dortmund, as per Saturday’s reports.
Sky Sports has indicated that the two clubs have come to an agreement while they are both participating in the Club World Cup in the United States.
The Blues are believed to be set to shell out as much as 65 million euros (£55 million) for the 20-year-old, who spent part of his formative years in Chelsea’s youth academy.
Gittens later transitioned to Manchester City’s academy before making a move to Dortmund in 2022. He has featured in 107 matches for the German side, netting 17 goals, with 12 of those coming in the Bundesliga and Champions League last season.
Chelsea has been actively seeking to strengthen their wide attacking players after opting not to pursue a permanent deal for Jadon Sancho from Manchester United following his loan stint at Stamford Bridge.
Additionally, Mykhailo Mudryk remains provisionally suspended by the English Football Association due to a drugs test failure.
If the transfer goes through, Gittens would become Chelsea’s fourth signing this summer, joining striker Liam Delap, midfielder Dario Essugo, and defender Mamadou Sarr.
Furthermore, Brazilian talent Estevao Willian, aged 18, is also set to join the Premier League outfit after completing his campaign at the Club World Cup with Palmeiras.
