Reports emerging on Saturday suggest that Chelsea are poised to enhance their attacking options by bringing in Jamie Gittens, an England under-21 international winger, following an agreement with Borussia Dortmund.
Sky Sports indicates that the two clubs have struck a deal while both are participating in the Club World Cup in the United States.
The Blues are expected to invest up to 65 million euros (£55 million) for the 20-year-old, who previously featured in Chelsea’s youth academy.
After his time at Chelsea, Gittens moved to Manchester City’s academy before making the switch to Dortmund in 2022. During his tenure with the German side, he notched up 107 appearances and found the back of the net 17 times, with 12 of those goals coming in the Bundesliga and Champions League last season.
Chelsea has been actively seeking to strengthen their wing positions, especially after choosing not to pursue a permanent transfer for Jadon Sancho from Manchester United following his loan period at Stamford Bridge.
Additionally, Mykhailo Mudryk is still provisionally suspended by the English Football Association due to a failed drugs test.
If finalised, Gittens will become Chelsea’s fourth signing of the summer, joining striker Liam Delap, midfielder Dario Essugo, and defender Mamadou Sarr.
Furthermore, Brazilian sensation Estevao Willian, aged 18, is also set to join the Premier League club after wrapping up his Club World Cup campaign with Palmeiras.
