F.C. Copenhagen has secured the signing of German striker Youssoufa Moukoko, who is set to join the club immediately.
The 20-year-old Moukoko arrives at the Danish champions from Borussia Dortmund, having signed a five-year contract that extends until the summer of 2030. He will don the number 9 jersey with “Youssoufa” emblazoned on the back.
Despite being so young, Moukoko boasts an impressive record of 99 first-team appearances for Dortmund, netting 18 goals, which include notable strikes in both the Bundesliga and Champions League. He has also represented Germany twice at senior level and featured in multiple youth internationals, where he distinguished himself as a leading scorer at both U17 and U21 levels.
Sporting director Sune Smith-Nielsen commented:
“This is a really exciting transfer. Youssoufa possesses immense potential and already has considerable experience at the highest echelons. He aligns perfectly with the profile we are looking for – young, ambitious, and technically gifted. We are confident that he can progress in his career here in Copenhagen.”
“Youssoufa has gone up against some of Europe’s top defences and has demonstrated his ability to make an impact at that level. This transfer will enhance our squad both in the immediate and the long run.”
Head coach Jacob Neestrup is eager to collaborate with the German striker.
“Moukoko brings pace, technique, and goal-scoring prowess to our attacking line. He arrives with a winning mentality and a self-assured attitude that complements F.C. Copenhagen. He has proven himself in both the Bundesliga and European competitions,” noted Neestrup.
“He is the kind of striker who can create opportunities independently. He excels at dribbling, can link up play in tight spaces, finishes adeptly, and poses a threat in the penalty area. He is also strong and tenacious in his pressing game. I am very keen to integrate him into our strategy and harness his talents to the fullest.”
Moukoko himself is excited to embark on this new chapter.
“F.C. Copenhagen is a major club with ambitions that resonate with my own,” he stated.
“Our discussions have been positive, and I’m thrilled to be here. I sense a strong trust in me, and I can’t wait to hit the ground running and give my all on the pitch.”
“I faced F.C. Copenhagen in the Champions League in 2023, and it was a memorable experience that left a lasting impression on me. Playing at Parken was incredible, and you can sense the support from the club’s community in the Danish capital.”
“I’m excited to be part of this and to showcase my abilities in that beautiful white jersey.”
