Swedish side Djurgårdens IF have secured the signing of Icelandic international midfielder Mikael Anderson from AGF on a four-year contract.
“Mikael has made a significant impact at AGF, and we’ve had the opportunity to watch him in a few matches this past spring. We recognised his potential as an appealing player, and when it became apparent that he had an interest in joining us, we initiated discussions around late May to early June,” stated Djurgårdens sporting director, Bosse Andersson.
“Europe would have been a logical next step for him, but it became clear that he had a desire to join Djurgården. It’s evident he’s benefited from a positive mentorship under Felix Beijmo, who has spoken highly of our club,” Anderson added.
Anderson returned to AGF, the club where he grew up, in the summer of 2021 after his stint with FC Midtjylland. Since rejoining AGF, he has made 121 appearances, netting 18 goals and providing an equal number of assists.
He will now continue his journey at Djurgården, who are currently enjoying a brief summer break in the Allsvenskan, set to resume play on 30 June.
