The Newcastle Jets have announced that central defender Phillip Čančar will depart the club to seek new opportunities.
The 24-year-old, who arrived at the Jets in 2022, concludes his tenure at McDonald Jones Stadium after making 47 appearances across all competitions, netting one goal in the process.
Čančar, who came through the ranks of the Sydney FC academy, has played for several clubs in Croatia before returning to Western Sydney Wanderers in 2020. He later moved to Scotland to play for Livingston.
A formidable centre-back known for his tackling, Čančar featured 18 times for the Jets last season under head coach Rob Stanton, helping the team secure a ninth-place finish.

Čančar is the tenth player to leave Newcastle during this off-season, joining the likes of defender Dane Ingham, goalkeeper Ryan Scott, and Brazilian import Wellisol as the club begins to reshape its squad for new head coach Mark Milligan.
A vital part of Milligan’s revamped team appears to be Japanese winger Kota Mizunuma, who has recently signed a new one-year deal to remain with the Jets for the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025-26 season.
