Brisbane Roar has announced that defenders Holly McQueen and Chelsea Blissett will be leaving the Ninja A-League club after their contracts come to an end.
McQueen, a versatile defender who joined the Roar in 2021, made a total of 49 appearances in the Ninja A-League over five seasons.
A key player for head coach Alex Smith during the 2024-25 season, the 23-year-old participated in 22 matches, helping the team narrowly miss out on a finals spot.
“I’d like to express my gratitude to my fans for their unwavering support throughout my journey,” McQueen stated.
“From my initial time as a train-on player to earning a full contract, they have been with me every step of the way.
“I feel incredibly fortunate that the beginning of my career took place in my hometown of Brisbane, surrounded by my family and friends.”

Blissett, who was initially signed before the 2023-24 season, started her time with the Roar off strongly, but an ACL injury sidelined her for the rest of that campaign.

Despite this setback, the 25-year-old made a strong comeback in the 2024-25 season, participating in 20 matches and contributing one goal along with four assists.
“I am thankful to the Roar for being my home over the last two seasons,” Blissett expressed after her departure was confirmed.
“The club and its supporters welcomed me wholeheartedly, and I am immensely grateful. You stood by me during one of the toughest periods in my career, making it even harder to say farewell.
She added: “The Roar and its amazing fans will always hold a cherished place in my heart.”
