Queens Park Rangers, a club competing in the Championship, made an announcement on Wednesday regarding the appointment of Frenchman Julien Stephan as their new head coach.
The 44-year-old takes the reins just a day after Marti Cifuentes officially parted ways with the club, having been put on gardening leave following the second-last match of the season.
The team finished in 15th place in the league, managing to secure only two victories in their final 12 outings under Cifuentes.
Stephan, who is 44 years old, is celebrated for having won the French Cup with Rennes back in 2019.
“I am immensely proud and thrilled to be joining QPR,” he stated.
“QPR is a club rich in history with deeply rooted values and devoted supporters, so it is an honour for me. I was drawn to the club because of the fervour surrounding it and the team, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of this environment.”
CEO Christian Nourry commented: “Julien’s impressive history of nurturing young talent into world-class players played a pivotal role in our decision to bring him on board.
“Furthermore, he has achieved remarkable success in the league with both Rennes and Strasbourg.”
