Bayer Leverkusen has reportedly initiated discussions with PSV regarding the American prospect Malik Tillman.
According to the esteemed Florian Plettenberg from Sky Germany, Leverkusen, managed by Erik ten Hag, regards the 23-year-old German-American as an “exciting talent” and is keen to trigger the release clause in Tillman’s contract. However, various reports suggest that this release clause, estimated to be between €30-40 million, will only come into effect in the summer of 2026.
In the wake of Florian Wirtz’s departure to Liverpool for a record-breaking transfer fee, Bayer Leverkusen is on the lookout for a suitable replacement.
Having graduated from Bayern Munich’s academy, Tillman was loaned to PSV in 2023 before making a permanent switch to Eindhoven in the summer of 2024 for €12 million.
During his first season in the Eredivisie with PSV, Tillman made quite an impression, contributing to 19 goals. Although he faced injury setbacks last season, he still played a significant role in PSV’s title defence, scoring 12 goals in league matches. Overall, the 23-year-old has netted 25 goals and provided 16 assists across 73 appearances.
Tillman is contracted with PSV until 2028.
