Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been nominated for the Professional Footballers’ Association Men’s Player of the Year award, alongside five other players, as announced on Friday.
The 33-year-old was instrumental in Liverpool’s Premier League title victory last season, contributing an impressive 29 goals and 18 assists.
Salah was named Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association, receiving nearly 90% of the votes—achieving the largest winning margin of this century—and is the leading contender for the PFA accolade.
Joining him on the shortlist are Liverpool teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Declan Rice from Arsenal, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, and Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United.
Palmer, who claimed the PFA Young Player of the Year award for 2023/24, came as a surprise inclusion given his challenges at Chelsea last season.
Rice put in a standout performance in midfield for Arsenal, achieving a personal best of nine goals while also providing 10 assists across 52 matches in all competitions.
Sweden striker Isak netted 23 goals for Newcastle, helping the club secure a Champions League spot and ending a 56-year trophy drought by triumphing in the League Cup.
Fernandes emerged as one of the few positives for Manchester United during what has been their worst top-flight season since 1973/74, recording eight league goals and 10 assists.
The awards ceremony for this year is set to take place in Manchester on August 19th.
