The Eredivisie CV, the governing body for the Dutch football league, has unveiled segments of the provisional schedule for the 2025/26 Eredivisie season.
Eredivisie director Jan de Jong expressed his excitement over revealing the initial details of the completed schedule, stating, “Once again, we have solved the impossible jigsaw with an infinite number of pieces!”
“We fed 25 pages of requests and criteria, both feasible and unfeasible, into a computer in Barcelona. It employed AI to transform it into something really impressive. The scheduling complexity here in the Netherlands is unmatched anywhere else in Europe; sending a rocket to the moon seems like a simpler task,” De Jong remarked on the Eredivisie’s official website.
Major Teams’ Home Fixtures
The 2025/26 Eredivisie season is set to commence on Friday, August 8th, featuring a match between Fortuna Sittard and Go Ahead Eagles, who are returning from the Europa League.
Defending champions PSV will start their season at home against Sparta Rotterdam, a side they triumphed over on the final day of the previous season to clinch the title. The 26-time champions will host Sparta on Saturday, August 9th, at 21:00 CET.
Runners-up Ajax will begin their campaign against Telstar. The promoted team from IJmuiden is returning to the Eredivisie for the first time since 1978 and will once again face Ajax at the Johan Cruyff ArenA, having been eliminated there in last year’s KNVB Beker second round. The matchup of Ajax versus Telstar is scheduled for Sunday, August 10th, at 14:30 CET.
Robin van Persie’s Feyenoord will be the first of the three Eredivisie powerhouses to kick off their season, hosting NAC Breda in Rotterdam on Saturday, August 9th. This will mark Van Persie’s inaugural full season at the helm of the renowned Rotterdam club, beginning at 18:45 CET.
Potential Deciding Matches Late in the Season
In addition to the opening fixtures of the new Eredivisie season, the Eredivisie CV has also released the schedule for the season’s first Klassieker and the concluding weeks of the competition.
The inaugural Klassieker of the season between Ajax and Feyenoord is slated to take place just before the Christmas break, on Sunday, December 14th, at the Johan Cruyff ArenA.
Looking ahead, Ajax will host PSV in the penultimate week of the season. The following week will see FC Utrecht visiting Amsterdam, while Feyenoord is set to face AZ in the first of two weekends where all matches will be played concurrently. PSV will conclude the season with a home fixture against FC Twente.
The complete schedule for the 2025/26 Eredivisie will be released on Wednesday, June 18th.
