Supporters of FC Nordsjaelland are urging former Danish international Peter Ankersen to part ways with the club, as discussed in the podcast ‘Nordsjælland Dreamin’.
Fans are still reeling from an incident that occurred on the penultimate matchday of the season when Ankersen received a yellow card during the clash with AGF. This caution resulted in his suspension for the final match of the season, leaving FC Nordsjaelland needing a victory to maintain their hopes of securing third place in the league.
If FC Nordsjaelland could achieve a positive result against FC Copenhagen, it might also hinder FC Copenhagen’s ambitions of clinching the Danish championship.
Ankersen, who nearly clocked 300 appearances for FC Copenhagen prior to his transfer to FC Nordsjaelland, is viewed by fans as having intentionally committed a foul to earn that yellow card. They believe he did so to avoid facing his former teammates while simultaneously boosting FC Copenhagen’s title chances.
Supporters feel that Ankersen prioritised his own interests over those of the team, despite his insistence that there were no ulterior motives behind his actions.
Kasper Henriksen, an FC Nordsjaelland fan, commends Ankersen, who has earned 25 caps for Denmark, for a commendable season. However, he believes there’s no path for the right-back to return after the yellow card incident.
“For me, he’s done at FC Nordsjaelland. I can’t see him coming back. He certainly won’t have my support, as it’s abundantly clear to anyone with even a slight understanding of the industry that he has sided with FC Copenhagen over us.”
“The competitive aspect adds to my frustration even further. There was so much on the line when he did that (received the yellow card). We were chasing a bronze medal while FC Midtjylland and FC Copenhagen were in a battle for gold.”
