South Sydney’s efforts to return to Allianz Stadium next season have been rejected by the NSW Government, but the club remains determined to continue its fight.
The saga has been ongoing for some time, with a petition launched by the Rabbitohs amassing nearly 15,000 signatures in support of their cause.
Despite this sizeable backing, it was not enough to convince the decision-makers, who are maintaining their position based on the contract Souths signed to hold their home games at Accor Stadium.
Chief executive Blake Solly took to social media to express that this is “by no means the end of the process,” as the Rabbitohs work towards a return to Moore Park.

“Minister [Stephen] Kamper has informed us in writing that our request has been declined,” he stated.
“We will review his letter and the reasons provided, and consider our response and next steps. Our commitment to discussing this issue remains firm.
“This is definitely not the end of the line.”

The post was paired with a resolute message from the Rabbitohs.
“We won’t back down. The battle continues.”
Souths have been playing out of Homebush for the last twenty years, a shift made for financial reasons, but they are eager to return to their former ground and share Allianz Stadium with the Sydney Roosters.
The petition has cited various reasons behind their wish to relocate, highlighting that Accor Stadium “lacks atmosphere” and “fails to meet the needs of the club and its supporters,” situated more than 30 kilometres away from Redfern and Maroubra, which are considered their heartland.
Furthermore, the Rabbitohs have expressed dissatisfaction with the “promised upgrades” from the NSW Government when they signed the contract for playing at the venue, leading to their push for a change of location.
