Auckland FC has officially announced the departure of Colombian forward Neyder Moreno following a standout debut season.
The 28-year-old, who quickly became a fan favourite, netted eight goals and provided three assists in 24 appearances. He has chosen to leave the Isuzu UTE A-League side to explore new opportunities abroad.
Joining the squad just a week before the inaugural season commenced, Moreno captured the hearts of supporters with a series of unforgettable performances.
“With a heavy heart and immense gratitude, I bid farewell to the team that has felt like a second family to me,” Moreno expressed. “I take away wonderful memories, genuine friendships, and a profound respect for everyone at Auckland FC. The team colours will forever hold a special place in my heart.”
Head coach Steve Corica remarked that Moreno will always be remembered as a key contributor to the team that secured Auckland FC’s Premier’s Plate during its inaugural season.
“He is an exceptional player, a dedicated trainer, and I know how much he cherished the support of the fans,” Corica stated.
