The Alagich legacy is ingrained in the history of Adelaide United, with Ethan Alagich recently contributing to this illustrious tale by securing the 2025 Aurelio Vidmar Medal.
The star midfielder celebrated a remarkable season in the Isuzu UTE A-League, earning the Most Valuable Player accolade on Wednesday evening in Adelaide.
At just 21 years of age, Alagich became the third member of his family to win Adelaide’s top individual honour, following in the footsteps of his father, Richie Alagich, who was the inaugural winner of the medal in the 2003-04 season, and his aunt, Dianne Alagich, who took home the first-ever women’s equivalent during the 2008-09 season.

Ethan Alagich’s remarkable feat further solidifies his family’s standing at Coopers Stadium, as the promising young player was the only member of the Reds squad to feature as a starter in all 26 matches during the 2024-25 season, missing a mere 23 minutes across the entire year.
“Ethan has had an incredible season. His relentless work ethic has led to continuous improvement week by week,” remarked Adelaide head coach Carl Veart, who is set to leave the club following their exit in the Elimination Final against Western United.
“What has truly impressed me is his consistency — he has risen to the occasion during crucial moments, demonstrated significant maturity, and become an essential component of our midfield.
“For a young player to feature in every game and lead the league in minutes played showcases his reliability and determination. It has been a pleasure coaching him and witnessing his growth, both on and off the field.
“Having him win this award, and follow the path of his father and aunt, makes it something exceptionally special. I believe the entire club is proud of his accomplishments.”
