Key forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan of the Western Bulldogs has reportedly taken the step to check himself into a wellness retreat, aiming to realign both his life and football career.
According to News Corp on Monday, the retreat is located outside of Victoria, and the Bulldogs remain optimistic about his progress moving forward.
While there is currently no timeline for Ugle-Hagan’s return to Victoria, it is noted that he began an indefinite leave from the club last month.

As of now, Ugle-Hagan has yet to make an appearance for the Bulldogs in 2025, having been training separately from the main squad while he manages mental health and off-field behaviour challenges.
He was chosen with the number one pick at the 2020 draft from the club’s Next Generation Academy.
Long-time AFL journalist Sam Edmund described this development as a significant advancement for the 23-year-old.
“There’s an old saying: it often gets darkest before the dawn,” Edmund communicated on SEN.
“I’m not an expert in this field, but I believe that opting for something like this is a positive move as it indicates Jamarra is seeking the assistance he requires.
“He is making a conscious effort to rectify his situation, improve himself, and prepare for a return to his profession.
“The AFL has established various health parameters that must be met before Jamarra Ugle-Hagan can resume his career and return to the Western Bulldogs.
“While that may seem a long way off, choosing to pursue a path like this should indeed spark some renewed hope that he can turn his life around.”
Ugle-Hagan has played a total of 67 games for the Bulldogs, with his last match being the elimination final loss to Hawthorn in 2024.
