Rasmus Hojlund found the back of the net for the second time in three matches on Thursday, and now he’s keen to bring more consistency to his performances.
The Danish forward for Manchester United appears to have rediscovered his scoring touch as the season reaches its climax, following a prolonged dry spell.
On Thursday, he marked his return to form by scoring once again as United comfortably advanced to the Europa League final, triumphing 4-1 against Spain’s Athletic Bilbao in the second leg, following a commanding 3-0 win in the first leg.
“I can’t even recall how many games it was before I found the net again. It feels fantastic to be scoring now. I just need to maintain my focus, play my game, and hopefully, more goals will follow,” Hojlund told the UEFA website.
His first goal since the dry spell came against Bournemouth on 27 May, after he had gone seven matches without scoring.
From December through to March, he endured a particularly tough stretch, playing 21 matches without hitting the scoresheet. The young Dane is optimistic that those challenging times are behind him.
“I also want to improve the consistency of my performances. I don’t intend to stop here,” he added.
Despite a disappointing season in the Premier League, United still have the opportunity to finish on a high note when they take on Tottenham in the Europa League final in Bilbao on May 21.
The victors will earn a spot in next season’s Champions League.
