Manchester United’s winless streak in the Premier League has now stretched to six matches following a thrilling 4-3 defeat at the hands of Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium. This victory has propelled the Bees into the upper half of the table.
In the opening minutes, Kevin Schade was a constant threat, narrowly missing a couple of opportunities. First, he guided a cross just wide while United’s Altay Bayındır was caught off his line, and later at the back post, he failed to connect perfectly, allowing the ball to drift past the goal.
However, United managed to take the lead with their only shot of the first half; Alejandro Garnacho set up Mason Mount, who scored his second goal for the club, with his first also coming against Brentford.
The Bees swiftly changed the tides before halftime, as Mikkel Damsgaard’s effort deflected off the unfortunate Luke Shaw, following a long throw from Michael Kayode that created havoc in the United defence.
Schade finally got on the scoresheet, heading in Christian Nørgaard’s cross from the back post. Brentford could have extended their lead too, as Bayındır was forced to parry Schade’s shot and then made a superb save from a close-range header by Nørgaard.
Credit to United, they began the second half with more intent, with Mount taking two shots, though neither posed a significant threat to Brentford’s goal.
Kayode’s long throws continued to trouble the visitors, one of which was flicked dangerously on before Yoane Wissa narrowly missed at the back post.

Brentford’s concerted pressure paid off as Schade netted his second with a well-placed header from Bryan Mbeumo’s whipped cross. To add to their excitement, Wissa then tapped in the Bees’ quickfire fourth goal shortly after.
United did manage to make things tense towards the end, with Garnacho curling a beautiful shot into the top corner from distance, followed by a strike from substitute Amad Diallo that slipped through Mark Flekken’s legs.
Despite the late scare, the Bees have extended their unbeaten streak in the league to five matches and have now secured their second victory from 13 encounters with United. Meanwhile, the Red Devils have only managed to clinch three wins from their last 22 outings in London.
