On September 6, England is set to face Andorra at Villa Park in a World Cup qualifier, marking the first senior men’s international match at the Midlands venue in two decades.
This encounter represents the second occasion this year that Thomas Tuchel’s England squad will hold a home fixture away from Wembley Stadium, with an upcoming friendly against Senegal scheduled for June 10 at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground.
“We are thrilled to play at Villa Park, a ground steeped in history,” Tuchel stated regarding the home of Premier League club Aston Villa.
“Based on my visits to the stadium this season, I can attest that it has the ability to create an incredible atmosphere, and its proximity to St. George’s Park (England’s training facility) is advantageous for our preparations.”
Currently, England leads qualifying Group K en route to the 2026 World Cup, having secured victories over Albania and Latvia at Wembley. Their next challenge is against the bottom-placed Andorra on June 7 in Barcelona.
