Bournemouth forward Evanilson has successfully sidestepped a three-match ban after the Premier League club appealed the red card he received in the match against Manchester United, as confirmed by the English Football Association (FA) on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old Brazilian was dismissed during Bournemouth’s 1-1 stalemate with United on Sunday, following a VAR review that escalated a yellow card for a challenge on right-back Noussair Mazraoui to a red.
With 11 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions this season, Evanilson was initially poised to miss upcoming league matches against Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Manchester City. However, the overturning of his red card now means he will be available to play.
“An independent regulatory commission has quashed Evanilson’s three-match ban after a successful claim of wrongful dismissal,” stated the FA in their announcement.
Bournemouth, currently in 10th position in the Premier League, will face Arsenal on Saturday.
