AIK continues to lead the charge in the 2025 Allsvenskan, achieving their fifth victory in six matches with a win over Elfsborg. Close on their heels is Mjallby, who also maintained their unbeaten record with a convincing home triumph against Degerfors. Meanwhile, Hammarby enjoyed a dream debut that earned them a point in their away fixture against Hacken.
The league frontrunners made their mark early at Strawberry Arena in Solna, taking the lead in the third minute when John Guidetti set up Johan Hove, who finished adeptly from eight yards out, marking his third goal of the season.
They doubled their advantage just over 15 minutes later with a stunning effort. Bersant Celina feinted a shot before delivering a spectacular cross into the box, finding Guidetti, who finished with aplomb.
Despite having over 70 minutes to respond, Elfsborg rarely threatened to score, bringing an end to their three-match winning streak in a whimper. Mikkjal Thomassen’s team has now accumulated 16 points from a possible 18.
Mjallby became the weekend’s top scorers, largely thanks to an outstanding hat-trick from Abdoulie Manneh, as they thrashed Degerfors 4-1 to stay within two points of AIK and secure second place.
They opened the scoring in Hallevik even quicker than AIK, with Manneh using his strength to break through the visitors’ defence and finish coolly just 105 seconds into the match.
Fifteen minutes later, he extended Mjallby’s lead, connecting with Bork Bang-Kittilsen’s through ball and guiding it home with finesse.
Another quarter of an hour passed before MAIF netted their third of the match and Manneh’s fifth of the season, as Herman Johansson powered home a header at the back post after skillfully controlling a deep cross.
Early in the second half, the crowd at Strandvallen erupted with delight as Manneh scored his third. His initial shot was blocked, but the ball fell kindly, allowing him to volley it low past Rasmus Forsell in the Degerfors goal.
Degerfors managed to grab a consolation goal late in the game through Sebastian Ohlsson, finalising the score at 4-1 and leaving the newly-promoted team with three wins and three defeats this season.
Mjallby climbed to second in the standings, overtaking Hammarby, who have recently won only one of their last three matches after starting the season with three victories. This time, they settled for a 1-1 draw against Hacken following late drama at both ends.
The match showcased numerous chances for both teams, but it looked set to finish goalless until the 87th minute, when Silas Andersen headed home a Samuel Leach cross to give Hacken the lead.
In response, Hammarby manager threw on Moise Kabore for his club debut. Positioned inside the box for a free-kick, he connected perfectly with a delivery from Montader Madjed, guiding the ball past Etrit Berisha with his first touch as a Hammarby player.
This goal keeps the Stockholm side within three points of the summit, while Hacken moved to seven points, with only one win since the season opener.
Norrkoping is performing well in sixth place, becoming the latest team to secure three points against Varnamo with a 3-1 victory, leaving the home side still searching for their first point of 2025.
Varnamo had early chances but fell behind in the 30th minute when Sebastian Jorgensen curled a stunning effort into the top corner from just inside the area.
Jorgensen showcased remarkable composure a mere three minutes later, controlling a drilled ball in the area before volleying home Norrkoping’s second.
Early in the second half, the hosts found hope when Kenan Bilalovic broke free and scored, but that optimism was short-lived as Christoffer Nyman tapped in his sixth goal of the season just four minutes later, becoming the league’s top scorer.
On Monday, Goteborg managed to secure a point at home against GAIS with a 1-1 draw, avoiding losing two Gothenburg derbies in as many home matches.
GAIS took the lead after 15 minutes when William Milovanovic set up Harun Ibrahim for his first goal of the season. This seemed enough for the Mackerels to secure only their second win of the campaign, but midway through the second half, David Kruse equalised.
GAIS have drawn four out of their six matches and sit ninth, while Goteborg improved to just one defeat in their last five, placing them fifth.
There was also a draw in Uppsala, where Sirius and Halmstad ended in a 1-1 stalemate, following an impressive goal that gave the visitors an early lead.
Just past the midpoint of the first half, Yannick Agnero found space, struck from over 25 yards, and unleashed a powerful shot that soared past Ismael Diawara.
However, the lead lasted only three minutes as Halmstad failed to clear their box, allowing Saba Mamatsashvili to weave through the defence and finish neatly.
Sirius currently sits 13th, while Halmstad is one place lower, with each side managing just one win thus far.
Brommapojkarna’s scheduled match against Djurgarden, set for tonight, was postponed due to the Iron Stoves’ UEFA Conference League clash with Chelsea on Thursday. Malmo and Oster will complete round six when they face off tomorrow night.
