Kade Dykes has had another unfortunate setback, being carried off the field during a NSW Cup match on Saturday afternoon.
The 23-year-old fullback, who made his debut in the top grade three years ago, has faced ongoing struggles with knee injuries. He was stretchered off while playing for the Newtown Jets.
Initial assessments suggest that Dykes may have dislocated his knee.
This injury would be a significant disappointment for the promising player, who was once viewed as the club’s long-term No.1 option before injuries took their toll.
The son of former Cronulla halfback Adam Dykes, Kade has progressed through the Sharks’ junior pathways, and coach Craig Fitzgibbon had high aspirations for him to emerge as an NRL star.
Dykes is approaching the end of his contract this season.

Another promising player for the Sharks, fellow fullback Liam Ison, is also sidelined for the entire season due to an ACL injury.
In the match, Newtown secured an 18-6 victory over the Wests Magpies in a tough contest at Lidcombe Oval, with Braden Hamlin-Uele scoring the crucial try.
