Mason Mount, the Manchester United midfielder, has expressed his eagerness for regular playing time as he makes a comeback from injury during the closing stages of the season.
The English midfielder made his first appearance for the club since December 2024 in a match against Nottingham Forest earlier this month, after an extended period of rehabilitation. The 26-year-old, formerly of Chelsea, is gradually being reintroduced to the team by manager Ruben Amorim as he aims to rejuvenate his career.
In a recent interview with the club’s website, Mount shared his aspirations and underscored his commitment to being available for every match until the season wraps up, as United strive to break into the top half of the Premier League table.
Having returned from injury at the beginning of April as a substitute in the loss to Nottingham Forest, the midfielder has since featured in every game for United.
Consistency is Key for Mount
“Absolutely, I need consistency,” he stated.
“I am the first to acknowledge that I require consistent playing time. From now until the season concludes, I wish to be available for every match. Hopefully, that will lead us to the final, as that’s our collective objective.”
“We recognise the necessity of competing in the Europa League final while performing at our best in the Premier League, aiming to achieve the highest position possible and secure victories while continuing to improve.”
“In each game, we can observe small improvements. Although we’ve had games we lost, we felt we were managing them well; it just didn’t quite come together. That has occurred on a few occasions, and it’s something we’re focusing on.”
“Everything else is gradually coming together; we merely need to perfect that final pass and finish. So, it’s definitely a positive. For me, being back as we approach the end of the season is all I could wish for.”
Support from Amorim is Invaluable
Amorim recently discussed Mount’s determination to return to the pitch after a season filled with interruptions, which has led to many underestimating his remarkable ability.
“You can see the desire in his eyes; he really wants this,” Amorim said.
Mount reciprocated by praising the support he has received from Amorim, acknowledging how much it aids him after experiencing numerous setbacks.
“It means a great deal to me,” he confessed.
“He’s the manager, so he understands my perspective and how keen I am to rejoin the lads on the pitch.”
“Being there for every match, watching from home, and being involved, you have this overwhelming urge to return as soon as possible, but sometimes it’s about being patient, perhaps giving it another week before you can fully commit.”
