The NSW squad has been announced for the women’s State of Origin opener, featuring four newcomers and some well-loved returns.
Head coach John Strange, who stepped in after Kylie Hilder’s departure following the 2024 series defeat, revealed his 20-player roster on Wednesday.
Knights halfback Jesse Southwell has made a comeback after missing out last year, alongside Kennedy Cherrington, Shaylee Bent, and Kirra Dibb, who are also back in the team.

Strange has also included four potential debutants: Abbi Church, Jayme Fressard, Ellie Johnston, and Jocelyn Kelleher, who are all competing for a place in the final 17.
Tiana Penitani and Isabelle Kelly will serve as co-captains for the upcoming clash on May 1 in Brisbane.
“The six-week training block provided an excellent opportunity to assess all players and see how they gelled as a team,” said Strange.

“Every one of the 30 players performed exceptionally well during this period, making it a tough job to narrow the squad down to 20. The players selected for game one have truly earned their spots, and I am eager to see them in action.”
The series kicks off at Suncorp Stadium, followed by matches at Allianz Stadium on March 15 and McDonald Jones Stadium on May 29.
