Bournemouth’s aspirations for a top-seven finish suffered a significant blow as they were held to a 0-0 stalemate by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, extending their winless streak in London to 11 Premier League matches (D6, L5).
After an encouraging early cross from Milos Kerkez to Justin Kluivert failed to yield any results, the first half was largely uneventful, with a couple of chances emerging just before the half-hour mark.
Will Hughes had an opportunity when he latched onto a rebound but couldn’t trouble the goalkeeper with his strike from the edge of the area, while at the other end, Evanilson’s effort sailed over from a similar distance after receiving a pass from Kerkez.
Before Hughes’ attempt, Chris Richards received a booking for a reckless challenge, which would later haunt him as he was shown a second yellow card just before half-time for pulling down Kluivert during a battle for the ball. Despite this setback, Palace would have felt a sense of accomplishment going into the break, having conceded a shocking 10 goals in their last two fixtures.
Kluivert was the first of three rapid bookings early in the second half, followed by Ismaïla Sarr and Dango Outtara.
This sequence hinted at a continuation of the match’s prevailing flow, although Adam Smith briefly ignited the away fans with a shot in the 54th minute that was well-blocked.
As the hour mark approached, Palace began to see a bit more of the ball, yet Bournemouth appeared slightly more dangerous, with Evanilson’s promising header being easily saved by Dean Henderson.
However, Henderson faced a tougher challenge just two minutes later, executing a remarkable save from Outtara’s powerful drive to the left side of the net.

The goalless outcome seemed fair overall, though Palace might feel a tinge of disappointment for failing to achieve a fourth consecutive Premier League win at home, a feat they’ve only accomplished once before.
For Bournemouth, the need to elevate their performance in the coming weeks is crucial if they hope to secure a spot in their first European campaign, despite remaining unbeaten in four consecutive clean-sheet encounters against the Eagles.
