Under the guidance of Stephen Larkham, the Brumbies have climbed into the top two of the Super Rugby Pacific standings following a commanding 24-0 victory against Moana Pasifika.
The Brumbies were held scoreless until after the 40-minute mark in the first half, when a brilliant play from Andy Muirhead and Corey Toole broke the deadlock.
Muirhead received the pass just shy of halfway and executed a clever chip kick. Toole sprinted forward, managing to touch the ball down just before it went dead.
“That was absolutely stunning from Toole,” exclaimed commentator Jeff McTainsh during Stan Sport’s broadcast.
However, Toole’s celebration took a turn as he collided with the fence, sending fans behind it scrambling.

Toole looked back anxiously at the fans as he reflected on the incident. Fortunately, during halftime coverage, Isaac Boss reassured viewers that the supporter had gotten up and was fine.
Persistent rain throughout the week in Auckland resulted in a slick Navigation Homes Stadium, complicating matters for both teams as they struggled to gain attacking momentum in the early stages.
In the 28th minute, Fine Inisi believed he had secured the first try, but it was disallowed due to a line-out offside infringement. This missed opportunity came while the Brumbies were a man down, with Tom Hooper sitting out for a yellow card after repeated warnings.
Points eventually came through Toole, although Noah Lolesio was unable to convert.
In the 55th minute, Brumbies hooker Billy Pollard emerged as an impact player, scoring from the back of a maul.
Pollard would go on to double his tally, finding the line again from another well-executed maul.
It was a night for doubles, with Toole sealing the Brumbies’ triumph in the 74th minute as he crossed the line on the left wing.
The Brumbies did receive a late yellow card, with Tom Wright sent off after a foul on Melani Matavaom off the ball.
Nevertheless, the final score of 24-0 confirmed this was the second instance where Moana Pasifika had failed to score any points.
This victory sees the Brumbies secure two wins in a row away from home. After the match, Toole expressed his excitement about his scoring contributions.
“It’s great to get a couple of tries; that one near the fence, I managed to raise my hand to brace myself. I’m all good, and I hope the bloke I ran into is fine too,” he remarked.
