Phil Gould has resurrected the legendary ‘Final Word’ pre-game address, a speech format that has long been associated with State of Origin rugby.
This time, however, he’s harnessed its power to rally Bulldogs supporters in anticipation of a crucial showdown against the Rabbitohs.
In a video shared across the club’s social media platforms, Gould traversed the vacant Accor Stadium, delivering a motivational message in his distinctive style.
“Bulldogs fans, it’s the traditional Good Friday fixture against the South Sydney Rabbitohs – two of the premier clubs in the competition, boasting two of the largest followings,” he proclaimed.
“Haven’t we had some fierce contests over the years? We’ve faced them in grand finals separated by five decades – they’ve come out on top, but today marks a new chapter.”
“We need your support, as they’ve got an enormous fanbase, too.”
“Bulldogs. South Sydney. Good Friday. It’s bound to be a spectacular day.”
Close to 70,000 fans are anticipated to fill the stands.
