Lachlan Galvin has confirmed he will not be heading to Manly, despite the northern Sydney club being seen as the frontrunner in the race to sign the young talent.
The 19-year-old is poised to depart the Wests Tigers in the near future after his contentious agent made it known to the Concord club last week that Galvin is not interested in a long-term commitment there.
Following this revelation, Galvin was omitted from the NRL squad on Tuesday and has faced a flurry of jibes on social media from senior teammates.
Phil Gould remarked on Wednesday that the situation has become “untenable,” suggesting Galvin will likely be available sooner rather than later.
While several rival clubs have been mentioned as potential destinations, the Sea Eagles were initially thought to be in a strong position due to their ties with Isaac Moses, the agent representing Galvin.

Moses also represents Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold, who addressed the media on Wednesday and stated that there has been no discussion regarding bringing Galvin to Brookvale.
“We haven’t talked about Lachlan at all,” Seibold stated.
“I cannot predict where Lachlan will end up. I certainly admire his talent from afar, but he will not be joining Manly.”

“I’ve had the opportunity to see him play live just once, and I was genuinely impressed. However, I can reiterate he won’t be coming to Manly.
“We have a plan in place for the future, and Lachlan has not been part of those discussions.”
When pressed on why he excluded Galvin so quickly, Seibold expressed confidence in the young talent pool at Manly.
“To begin with, we weren’t even aware he was available, and he won’t be until 2027,” the coach added.
“We have outlined our strategy, and we believe in our promising young halves who are on the verge of making their mark here.
“As we look ahead, we’re considering our strategy for the interim period. Both halves are only 17 and 18, and from my experience, I’ve learned that rushing young players can backfire, as was evident during my time at the Broncos.
“We’re implementing a strategic plan for the coming years that will serve us well.”
Manly is set to lose veteran halfback Daly Cherry-Evans after this season, but reports suggest they are closing in on Jamal Fogarty as a suitable replacement.

The Sea Eagles currently have Luke Brooks under contract for the medium term, along with several promising juniors in their ranks.
The controversy surrounding Galvin’s sidelining from the Tigers, with 18 months remaining on his contract, has reignited discussions about the possibility of introducing an AFL-style trade window in the NRL.
Seibold expressed his support for such an initiative but is sceptical about its implementation.
“I would personally welcome that, but I doubt anyone will take my opinion into account,” he remarked.
“It would be fantastic to have. It seems unreasonable to be discussing 2026 and 2027 just six weeks into the season.
“But that’s the current reality. Right, wrong, or otherwise, that’s just how the NRL marketplace operates.
“As the Manly coach, I can’t influence those decisions.”
