It wouldn’t be shocking to see the Wests Tigers turn their attention to the current Man of Steel in the Super League as they look for a successor to Lachlan Galvin.
Mikey Lewis, a dynamic 23-year-old playmaker from Hull KR, is widely regarded as one of Britain’s top talents and has already earned five caps for the England Test side.
At Hull, Lewis is coached by Willie Peters, a former halfback with South Sydney and St George, who happens to be a good friend of Tigers’ CEO Shane Richardson.
Although the burgeoning talent Galvin is under contract with the Tigers through until the end of 2026, indications suggest he may be eyeing a move elsewhere soon due to existing tensions with his management and the club.

Lewis experienced a breakout season in 2024 with Hull KR under the guidance of Peters. He crossed the try line 19 times, earned the Rugby League Writers and Broadcasters’ Association Player of the Year accolade, and was named Man of Steel – the Super League’s equivalent of the Dally M awards.
He led Hull KR to the grand final, where they were narrowly defeated by a formidable Wigan side.

Multiple NRL teams are interested in the talented young playmaker, but the Tigers are well-positioned to secure him to partner with Jarome Luai after Galvin’s anticipated departure.
The Tigers boast a promising young player in Latu Fainu, who could step in for Galvin, but his history of injuries raises concerns. Additionally, the Tigers would benefit from having three playmakers in their top 30 squad.

EELS STAR RESPONDS TO RUMOURS
Management for Ryan Matterson has taken aim at speculation suggesting the former Blues Origin representative is on the verge of leaving Parramatta to join the Super League.
Rumours have been circulating on social media across various platforms that Matterson, who only made his NRL debut for the year in round six, might not be with the Eels in 2026.
“He is under contract with Parra, and we’ve had no communication from any parties, including the Eels,” his manager Chris Orr stated to Wide World of Sports.

DRAGONS SUPPORTER BACK AT FOOTY AMID PROBE
A Dragons fan who was removed from Kogarah Oval earlier this month for allegedly berating the referee made a return to the game at Wollongong over the weekend.
This time, the fan was well-behaved during the Dragons vs Titans match but may still face repercussions.
The NRL integrity unit continues to investigate the Kogarah incident, and their findings are expected to be released soon.
Known as a long-standing supporter of the Dragons, several sources have informed Wide World of Sports that this incident is out of character for him.
RAIDERS SECURE UNDER 19s ORIGIN TALENT
The Cowboys have lost Queensland under 19 fullback Mutua Brown to the Raiders, effective immediately.
The young player relocated to Canberra last week and has already made an appearance in the Canberra Jersey Flegg team. He is a promising rookie with a bright future ahead.
At just 19, Brown had been playing for the Cowboys’ feeder team, the Mackay Cutters, in the Queensland Cup but believed his path to first-grade football would progress quicker at the Raiders.
Brown trained with the Cowboys’ NRL squad last summer and brings the added benefit of being a versatile player capable of filling various roles in the backline.
