Lachlan Galvin has clarified his choice to depart from the Wests Tigers at the conclusion of 2026, firmly stating that he has not engaged in discussions with competing NRL clubs.
The young prodigy, alongside his agent Isaac Moses, decided on Monday to decline any contract extension to extend his stay at Concord.
Despite facing significant scrutiny, Galvin is set to explore the open market in November, even with a five-year deal valued at about $6 million on the table.

In a statement shared with 9News Sydney’s Danny Weidler, the 19-year-old articulated his reasoning behind the decision and why he felt it was important to announce it sooner rather than later.
“I completely understand that my decision may upset many Wests Tigers supporters, but I assure you it was not an easy choice,” Galvin expressed.
“This is a resolution I’ve contemplated thoroughly with my family and close friends. I am incredibly thankful for their love and support throughout this process.
“One of the main reasons for making this choice now is to give the Wests Tigers ample time to strategise their roster without my presence in the future. That is the absolute truth of the matter.
“The club was keen to finalise a deal and arranged a meeting with my management last week. I could have deliberated over this throughout the season, but I felt that would not be the right approach.
“I believed it would be more beneficial for all parties involved to make the decision now instead of dragging it out. Any claims suggesting that I have already secured a deal with another club for 2027 are completely untrue.
“I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to work as an NRL footballer, and the Wests Tigers have been pivotal in allowing me to pursue this passion.
“As I enter a crucial phase of my development as a half, I believe it’s essential for me to continue evolving my game at a different club. I understand that this may be difficult for some to comprehend, but I have made this decision with my career’s best interests in mind.”

Galvin was dropped by coach Benji Marshall for their round seven encounter on Easter Monday, with Adam Doueihi set to partner Jarome Luai in the halves.
He has been linked with the Manly Sea Eagles and Parramatta Eels, but is not permitted to negotiate or sign until November.
Galvin’s father, James, also defended the young talent amid the criticism.
“I can empathise with the Tigers fans, but as his father, I also understand why Lachlan feels the need for a change,” he stated.
“I want the best for my son and his growth as an NRL player, and I fully support his decision as he knows his game better than anyone else.
“As a family, we are confident that Lachie is taking a step he believes is right for him. I trust he will continue to give his all for the club.”
