Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are inching closer to new contracts as their existing deals near their end.
According to the Daily Mail, there is a growing belief that both players are on the verge of finalising agreements that will see them remain at the club for the foreseeable future.
Van Dijk mentioned last week that there is “progress” on his contract negotiations, which alleviated concerns about a potential exit in the near future.
Liverpool has maintained confidence that Salah, 32, will extend his eight-year stint at the club despite the tempting offers from Saudi Arabian teams over the last couple of years, which would significantly boost his earnings as he approaches the latter stages of his career.
Salah himself has indicated that his future at Anfield remains uncertain, expressing in November that he feels he is “more out than in”.
This season, the Egyptian forward has been involved in a staggering 54 goals across all competitions for Arne Slot’s side, netting 32 goals and providing 22 assists as he vies for the coveted Ballon d’Or.
As it stands, it appears likely that Trent Alexander-Arnold may depart once his contract concludes this season. However, retaining both Van Dijk and Salah could position the Reds for another title challenge next season, without the need for heavy spending this summer.
