Aston Villa faces a challenging outing in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against newly crowned French champions Paris Saint-Germain. However, midfielder Morgan Rogers remains optimistic about securing a victory in Wednesday’s clash.
Rogers was instrumental in Villa’s 2-1 triumph over third-placed Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday, marking their seventh consecutive win across all competitions.
“We recognise that we’re up against an enormous team in PSG, and it’s going to be tough.
“We’re fully aware that there will be moments where we need to dig deep during the match,” Rogers remarked.
“They possess world-class talent throughout their squad. Nonetheless, our goal is to win the tie at the end of the day.
“We’ve earned our spot in the quarter-finals through our performances and dedication in the competition.”
Winger Marco Asensio, currently on loan from PSG, has made a significant contribution to Villa’s season, while Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford has also been in excellent form.
“The signings we made in January have been pivotal for us,” Rogers stated to the BBC.
“We understood the importance of bolstering our squad if we were to contend in all three competitions during the latter half of the season.”
