Manchester City secured their 13th consecutive Premier League victory against newly-promoted teams, defeating Leicester City 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium, which propelled them into the top four.
City aimed to build on their successful FA Cup performance against Bournemouth on Sunday and had the ideal start, taking the lead just two minutes into the match.
Jérémy Doku intercepted the ball in midfield and quickly passed it to Savinho, who delivered a cross for Jack Grealish to expertly place into the bottom corner, marking his first Premier League goal since December 2023.

Leicester had only one chance throughout the entire match, which came when Bilal El Khannouss nearly equalised, but he sent his shot wide from the edge of the box.
This miss proved significant as City doubled their lead in the 30th minute. Omar Marmoush, standing in for the injured Erling Haaland, took advantage of a goalkeeping blunder by Mads Hermansen, unleashing a shot that hit the crossbar and bounced into the empty net. This marked the Egyptian’s fifth league goal in the first half since his arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Hermansen redeemed himself by saving Savinho’s close-range attempt, keeping the score manageable as they entered the second half with a two-goal deficit.
Despite this, City were still in fine form, pressing for a third goal to seal the match. Marmoush came close to adding to his tally just before the hour mark, combining well with his teammates but ultimately fired over the bar.

Although the home side maintained the majority of possession, they struggled to convert it into clear-cut chances in the second half, registering only one shot on target.
Nevertheless, securing three points was all that mattered for Pep Guardiola’s side, as they claimed their first league win in three attempts and welcomed back Oscar Bobb from a long-term injury.
In contrast, Leicester became only the fourth team in history to lose seven consecutive English top-flight matches without scoring, a dismal run that has left them firmly entrenched in the relegation zone.
